Join the Intergenerational Learning Alliance!
The Intergenerational Learning Alliance (ILA) is a program within the Whatcom Intergenerational High School structure. The ILA’s purpose is to connect our students with the elders of our broader Whatcom community, who may have distinct insights, skills, and knowledge to share.
By connecting generations, we strive to broaden our community’s perspectives and experiences, and thus contribute to growth in compassion, generosity, critical consciousness, and deepened inquiry skills for us all. The Intergenerational Learning Alliance is also deeply committed to centering our humanity as individuals by re-learning the importance of emotional, social, cultural, spiritual, and physical care. In this way, we can support each other across generations.
Allies are multigenerational community members from Whatcom County who volunteer to interact with and assist high school students, staff, and fellow volunteers.
